I wonder if Alma had an experience like Abinadi in that the people could not lay hold of him when they wanted to, but was protected by the Spirit while he delivered his message. I have always been conscious of the recitations of how the Nephites had been preserved, and how the Lord could destroy them, but I have not always consciously noticed the invitations to repent – that must be selective memory.
