We can see here how people can get an idea and elevate it to a doctrine. Two clear examples here are celibacy and vegetarianism. Celibacy has a place (outside of marriage) but it should not be pushed as a lifelong aspirational lifestyle.

Similarly vegetarianism (and veganism) have some merit from the standpoint of physiological health and some people may even adopt them as a permanent lifestyle but animals were given to man as a stewardship and the Lord has explicitly allowed their consumption so preaching universally against eating meat is contrary to the will of God even as we encourage respect for all life and should not recreationally shed blood or waste the life of animals (ie trophy hunting or killing but not eating fish except for ecological purposes such as taking care of an invasive species).
