1 Nephi 16
While most of the people around him were complaining that they had lost their hunting gear, Nephi set about making a bow. I’m sure that’s not all he did, nor was it his idea to fix this problem himself. I’ll bet that while he was making the bow he was saddened to overhear the grumbling around him and he was praying for strength and direction from the Lord. He was asking questions of what the Lord would have him do. Going to his father for direction was likely prompted by the Lord during that time of preparation while he made the bow.
