Helaman 4 – 5
The Nephites became so wicked that they lost all their traditional lands up to their northern boundary. Only the land of Bountiful remained in their possession as well as the lands northward where they had expanded less than 3 decades before. Moronihah was only able to lead them forth against the Lamanites successfully in proportion to their repentance. Eventually he was able to retake half of their traditional lands. He could not even retake the capital city of Zerahemla. The real miracle came when Nephi abandoned the judgment seat to Cezoram in order to dedicate all his time to preaching the gospel. He was probably tired of being asked to enforce perverted laws. He and his brother, Lehi, began preaching. First they taught the Nephites and then they taught the Lamanites. They converted thousands of Lamanites in Zerahemla but then, with the help of hundreds converted when Lehi and Nephi were in prison, they converted more than half of all the Lamanites and the Lamanites put down their weapons and gave the Nephites their traditional lands again.
