Alma 35 – 36
When Alma was unconscious for three days he went from terror at the thought of standing before God to desiring to be with the angels singing praises to Him. I believe that the Savior was reaching out to Alma from the time he fell, and that is why Alma was so afraid, he knew that he could not stand the presence of the Lord in his sins. As Alma finally started reaching out to his Savior his pain was eased and he felt relief from the anger and deadness that caused and was caused by his wickedness. Knowing that it was the mercy of Christ that had brought that relief, Alma desired to be with Him. It was once Alma desired to be in the presence of God that he awoke. It was not the vision of God that drove Alma the rest of his live, but the desire that had been cultivated in him to want to be with his Father in Heaven.
