After that first wake-up call Zeniff prepared his people to defend themselves against the enemies among whom they had chosen to settle. He placed guards at the borders and made weapons for their defense. When the Lamanites prepared to attack, Zeniff reminded his people to call upon the strength of the Lord to preserve them in defending their lands.
