The kids are sick today so we had them stay home from church. Laura stayed with them for Sacrament meeting and I came home for the other parts of church. When I got home Laura was giving a primary lesson on the plan of salvation. I arrived in time to take over and talk about the judgment and the three degrees of glory. I taught the girls (Isaac was sleeping) that the decision of which kingdom they would inherit would be based on the choices they made throughout their lives and that if they made their choices based on whether they would be comfortable if Christ was there they would accurately choose those things that would lead to the Celestial kingdom. I taught them that they would inherit the kingdom where they felt comfortable based on the choices of their lives.

I then came to realize how simple the judgment process would be based on the fact that Christ can visit the Terrestrial kingdom but not the Telestial. When they stand before Christ, those who are to inherit the Telestial kingdom will be fearful, embarrassed and so uncomfortable in His presence – because of the choices that they have made – that they will flee to the Telestial kingdom. For those who will inherit the Terrestrial kingdom, they will come into his presence and, as they chose in life not to follow Him but to take the simpler road of being generally pleasant without making hard choices, they will arrive for judgment and will patiently wait for their assignment. Perhaps some of them will say, when they are told to report to the Terrrestrial realm, “did we not do many works of righteousness in your name” only to have Him answer “I know you not” or “What you did you did for the praise of the world and you have your reward.” Those who have endured the crosses of the world to follow Christ and have developed a love for Him and all He did will come into his presence and rush to embrace Him whereupon they will be invited to come in and live where He lives.
