Becoming an Elect Man

In the celestial kingdom there are three heavens or degrees – we do not know that they are in order 1, 2, 3 – it may be 1, a, b. (I have heard the speculation of married, male, and female) When we talk about the third part of the hosts of heaven following Satan and being cast down from heaven that does not mean 1/3, 1/3, and 1/3. It may mean one class (who chose to follow Christ and fight valiantly for the Father’s plan), another class who were not diligent in fighting for either side (willing to wait and see which side prevailed), and the third part (who chose to follow Satan in defiance of the plan laid out by Father).

“These I will make my rulers” is not the same as “these I will make my leaders” Leadership is not a prerequisite nor an indicator of being a ruler in righteousness.

Elect men are elders who magnify their calling in the priesthood. (Bruce R McKonkie)

Most men do not set priorities in allocating their time and most men forget that their first priority should be to maintain their own spiritual and physical strength. Then comes your family – wife, children, extended family (in that order), then the church, their profession. (Teachings of Harold B Lee)

The condition of the physical body can affect the spirit – that is why the Lord gave us the WOW. Retire to thy bed early. In general the more food we eat in its natural state. Regular physical examination may spot problems which can then be corrected. Wholesome recreation is a part of our religion and a change of pace is necessary. (Ezra Taft Benson)

magnifying your calling means doing you best at the calling you are given, not coveting some specific calling.

Marriage is designed to make/keep us clean.

An elect man is supposed to work for the exaltation of his wife.
