1 Kings 19
I can just feel Elijah’s heart as he is commanded and comforted of the Lord. He learns that although he feels alone the Lord knows of 7000 people who have refused to worship Baal. Not only that but the Lord has prepared a prophet to follow Elijah – he will not be the last prophet in Israel. Elijah is to annoint Hazael in Syria and Jehu in Israel and then annoint Elisha to follow him as the prophet. Through Hazael in Syria and Jehu in Israel those who have worshiped Baal shall be slain. Those who can escape them shall be slain through Elisha. The Lord is able to clean His land.
