1 Samuel 26 – 27
I knew about David cutting the hem of Saul’s robe while he slept but I had forgotten the incident with the spear. That makes twice that David has demonstrated that he would not kill Saul even when he had the opportunity – once privately and now publicly. Although Saul spoke of reconciliation at this public confrontation David recognized that Saul would seek his life again if David was around to remind Saul of how favored he was by both God and men. It is amazing to think of David living publicly among the Philistines for more than a year under asylum. Now I wonder why David was going to war against other people while he was living among the Philistines.
