4 Nephi 1
The fact that it took two years for all the people to be converted is evidence that not all the people saw the resurrected Savior. Those who saw Him during the three days were undoubtedly converted the first day they saw Him considering all that he did and all they had been through.

I just realized that each book in the Book of Mormon, while typically named for their principle author, is often a delineation of sets of plates. They could not have an infinite number of plates to work with thus Helaman and Shiblon wrote on the very plates their father had kept but the son and grandson of Helaman, namely Helaman and Nephi, had to get another set of plates and Nephi, the great-grandson of Helaman Jr had to start another set.

When Mormon started writing he took a fresh set of plates and condensed all the records plus he added the small plates of Nephi the son of Lehi to his collection before binding the whole record.
