3 Nephi 20 – 21
I find it intrrestifng that when Christ spoke of the prophets testifying of Him He spoke of Moses then skipped to Samuel and all who came after him. He skipped right over Joshua and any of the leaders of the people under the system of judges before Samuel. Perhaps Josua was considered a leader but not really a prophet by the Israelites and perhaps there were no other prophets known among the people between Moses and Samuel.
The promise to the Children of Israel is that the Lord would redeem Jerusalem. Modern Zionists who have worked so hard to gather Jews to Jerusalem are trying to redeem Jerusalem using the arm of flesh – it will never succeed. It can only work when the Lord chooses to make bare His arm.
The Latter-day Saints have the priesthood and have made the covenants today to be those publishing peace and saying to modern Israel that “thy God reigneth.”
When those who are descendants of Israel are taught the fullness of the gospel in the latter days, if they shall reject the doctrine of Christ they shall no more be numbered among the children of the covenant.
It sounds like the descendants of Lehi who accept the gospel shall beinstramental in building the city of New Jerusalem before many of the rest of the modern covenant people are gathered to that holy city. At that time the work of gathering the lost tribes commence.
