3 Nephi 16 – 17
When and how will we receive the next ancient scriptural record? It is clear that we will because of the prophecy that the records of Judah, Joseph, and the ten tribes will all be combined as well as the way the Savior is so explicitly stating to the Nephites that He has yet other sheep to visit. We know that He would not visit without having them preserve a record and we know that if they made a record He would preserve it for future generations. I wonder if we will receive the record after the beginning of His millenial reign or if t will come before then. If it comes before then I would not be surprised to have a portion of the church reject the new record and claim that the leaders of the church had fallen. In fact they might make the claim that some prophecy predicted a second falling away.

I believe that this statement that the Gentiles will one day sin against the gospel of Christ means that the Gentiles will not simply fail to join the LDS church but that they will reject Christianity outright. That is certainly the direction things are heading and when we get there things are going to get very rough for the world as the Lord turns to fulfilling the ancient covenant and redeeming the house of Israel. Only those who remain true to the LDS faith shall be spared when the Israelites are allowed to go through among them and tread them down. (Not that all others will be killed, just that faithful Latter-day Saints will not be among those who are trodden down.)

Based on the beginning of chapter 17 it sounds like this message of having other sheep was the last of the message that the Savior felt must be shared on that first day. He would have left at that point if the people had not so earnestly desired Him to stay.
