Helaman 7 – 8
When Nephi yearns for the days of Nephi the son of Lehi and says that the people were easy to be entreated he must have been thinking of the period after they separated from Laman, Lemuel, and the sons of Ishmael.
Even in an instance where the argument “we are too powerful for our enemies to conquer us” was accurate no society is ever too powerful to implode upon itself.
I get the feeling that some people had already forgotten that Nephi had been their chief judge only a few years before. I wonder if they just did not recognize him or if they simply did not pay attention to even recent history.
I wonder if any of those judges who were hearing Nephi speak and seeking to incite the people against him were aware through their Gadianton connections of the plotto murder the chief judge.
