Mosiah 25 – 26
I wonder why the Lamanites were more than twice as numerous as the Nephites combined with the people of Zerahemla. Is it because some of the Nephites had stayed behind and become Lamanites when Mosiah left, combined with the fact that people of Zerahemla had fought among themselves at times before they were found and joined by Mosiah and the Nephites and the fact that the Lamanites had an opportunity to use their lopsided advantage to reduce the number of people living under Limhi? Or perhaps the reason was that most of the people who came with Lehi followed Laman and Lemuel and that the people who came with Mulek were a smaller group to begin with. It was probably a combination of all those things. Alma and his people had been practicing their organized religion for far longer even than the people in Zerahemla which is probably why Mosiah asked Alma to organize the churches.
In a way Alma had his own little kingdom within the kingdom of Mosiah for he had great authority regarding those who belonged to the church.
I wonder how many, if any, of the revelations recorded in the Book of Mormon were given as priesthood blessings.
