Omni – Words of Mormon
I find it interesting that Jarom said that the plan of salvation had already been revealed upon the plates and “what could I write more” and then his son, Enos said that the purpose of keeping the plates is to “preserve our genealogy.” It almost sounds like Jarom did not pass on the instructions of Nephi. By the time it gets to Chemish the report is that “this is how we keep the record and it is in accordance with the commandments of our fathers.” Abinadom seems to know the purpose of the records even though he has nothing to add.

After 320 years the more wicked part of the Nephites was destroyed. in another 310 years it will happen again and another 350 years will see all the Nephites wicked enough to be destroyed – that is amazing symmetry.

It must have been interesting for two groups who had been lead away from Jerusalem – who had just combined – to discover a record of another group that had been led away from the rest of humanity a thousand years earlier (although they may not have known how long ago that had taken place.

I almost get the impression from Mormon that the Lamanites were peaceful enough to consistently be open to those who would dissent from the Nephites.
