Genesis 38
I’m not sure what to think about a parent who married outside the covenant, raised two sons who were evil enough that the Lord killed them, and then got his daughter-in-law pregnant thinking she was a harlot – it’s hard to think of Judah as being righteous. The only good thing I can think of him doing was choosing to sell Joseph rather than allowing his brothers to kill him – and that might have been motivated by greed more than concern for the life of his brother.
