Genesis 17
I had never noticed before that Abraham wished that Ishmael would be righteous before the Lord. The Lord promises that Ishmael will be great as well even though the covenant was to be through the child that Sarah would bear. The Lord told Abraham the name of the child Sarah would have and Isaac was born within a year. The whole household of Abraham (including Ishmael as well as all the servants) were circumcised on the day the Lord made this promise to Abraham. I wonder if the seed of Ishmael continued to practice circumcision.
