Moroni 9
When Mormon says that “Satan stirreth them up continually to anger one with another” he is not talking about the anger between the Nephites and the Lamanites – he is talking about anger between Nephites. Even in the face of destruction they would not unite against the external enemy but would continue to fight among themselves.
Despite the fact that he loves the Nephites as his brethren and works his entire life to preserve them, Mormon says that his heart cries “come out in Judgment, O God, and hide their sins.” He also prayed that Moroni, who had grown up with this wickedness, would live to see the sins of the Nephites, or the Nephites themselves, destroyed. He instructs Moroni to write unto any remnant of the people if he, Mormon, should die before he can deliver the sacred records to Moroni.
