Genesis 4
Wow, this record is remarkably incomplete and riddled with holes. It suggests that Cain was the firstborn of Adam, which I am sure he was not – he was simply before Abel. It gives no indications of why Cain’s offering was rejected. When the Lord explains to Cain that if he does evil “sin lieth at the door” it sounds like it is saying that Abel’s desire would be directed toward Cain and Cain would rule over Abel. The truth is that Satan’s desire was to bind Cain and Cain would be subject to that if he continues to choose evil and in the end Cain would rule over the devil by virtue of the fact that he has a physical body. Having subjected himself to Satan that is the only power Cain has more than Satan.
