3 Nephi 28
The disciples were not offered or given the gifts they sought during the three days of the Savior’s ministry among the people. That offer was made when the Savior came to answer their question regarding the name of the church. We don’t know how much later that took place, but apparently long enough that the apostles had proven their dedication enough to receive these gifts. I wonder if one of the nine spoke up and the other eight agreed that they had the same request while the three admitted to themselves that they were not satisfied with that great gift of returning swiftly to Christ after a full life. I wonder if the ancient apostles (besides John) were given gifts of their choosing (certainly not this same gift as the nine disciples here requested).
