Helaman 6
I wonder what the political relationship with the Lamanites was like after they voluntarily returned the Nephite lands to the Nephites. Religiously there was interaction between the Nephite and Lamanite churches, so it sounds like politically there was interaction between the nations. (Here two verses later it says exactly that.) Note that in this time of great peace and prosperity the people were working hard – it was not a time of laziness or leisure (although they certainly had time for leisure). The Gadiantons started out as little more than a street gang and grew to be at least as powerful as any modern cartel of organized crime.
This chapter does a great job of pointing out the way Satan has worked among men throughout history.
