Towards the end of my scripture study Laura showed me a blood clot and asked if we should call Nancy. We decided to wait until a more reasonable hour (it was 6:30). 15 minutes later after I was done with scriptures and towards the end of studying Elder Bednar’s conference talk Laura came out and said that she wanted to make the calls now – just to be safe. I agreed and my study was done for the day – we ended up going to the hospital where Enoch was born at 11:15 AM. Everything went very well although I had been worried due to the bleeding and the fact that Laura had not felt much movement from Enoch since last night. Laura did a great job giving birth without any medication as she had hoped to do. I would not be surprised if she chose to do all future births the same way because her recovery seems to be going more simply. Enoch came out at 7lb 5oz and 20.5 inches making him 2 oz and 2 inched larger than Isaac (still smaller than Alyssa). We hope that bodes well for a robust boy to play with Isaac in years to come. Syd Allred came over to watch the kids until Marsha could get here. Mom, Andy, Marsha, Steve, Noreen, and AJ all got to see Enoch at different points of the afternoon despite the hospital visitation restrictions that are in place to reduce the risk of spreading Swine Flu (no more than 2 visitors at a time and nobody under 14 – even siblings). It’s been a great day. When I came home I did Family Home Evening and dinner with the kids while Marsha was visiting Laura. We talked about what it would mean to have a new baby at home – I made special emphasis with Isaac on being soft. One thing I told the girls was that sometimes when Mom had said she would do something for them if Enoch cried she might drop what she was doing to go help him. Alyssa then asked me, “but what if it’s glass and she really liked it?” I had to explain what it meant to “drop what you are doing.”
