1 Chronicles 4
I wonder why these genealogies, generally devoid of any explanatory information, are included here. I’m confident that if the Old Testament had an editor the way Mormon culled the Nephite records to make the Book of Mormon that this would have been left on the cutting floor. Some places a genealogy is given with some information about important members of the genealogical history. Here it is just a list of sons and sometimes of wives or even occasionally of places or people associated with those lines. Culturally this would be important to pass on to future generations but I don’t think it really adds anything to scripture. In fact most of it fails to even connect to anything of spiritual significance (unless you are trying to do genealogy work on these lines). This is the equivalent of a telephone directory, indicating how various groups of this time were associated with the various tribes of Israel.
