Journal 8 November 2011

I have wondered what to make of my time as Elder’s Quorum President. Recently I began to see a representation of what was happening in the form of a car analogy. It seems that I was given an old 2001 Ford Focus to drive around—a perfectly functional car but not a highly tuned machine. Unfortunately I drove with the idea that any vehicle could be driven like a sports car so I was always a bit flustered that the quorum did not perform like a 2011 Camero.

Obviously the issues of a dysfunctional presidency played a role but even if the presidency had been flawless the quorum could still only perform as well as a well-maintained 2001 Focus.
