Alma 1
I’m sure that Nehor did not preach, like Sharem had, that whatever a man did was no crime. His doctrine was that whatever crime a man committed was redeemed of the Lord in the end. It is a subtle difference and leads finally to the same philosophical conclusions but some might have been fooled by Nehor because he was not making the claim that murder was no sin. He claimed to be preaching a gospel of joy that acknowledged the need and existence of a redeemer. What he is actually teaching is a gospel of unfettered permissiveness. This was proven by the boldness with which he pleaded for himself after he murdered Gideon.
