Alma 18
The way Lamoni talks about the Great Spirit is akin to the way Greeks must have talked about demigods—more than a man but a far cry from an accurate understanding of Deity.
The tradition of Lamoni is very similar to the teachings of Nehor and later Korihor. Nehor said that all men would be saved regardless of doing wrong. Korihor said that there was no God and thus no right and wrong. Lamoni was taught that there was a God but that anything men did was right—there was no mention regarding any salvation.
I am sure that when Ammon Related the rebellions of Laman, Lemuel, and the sons of Ishmael he did it in a factual but not condemning way so that Lamoni would not feel that Ammon looked down upon him for his ancestry.
