I have been more conscious of the fact that war moved slower for the Nephites than it often does today. Where we can land troops anywhere in the world within 24 hours and can give commands anywhere in the world instantly they could take days or weeks to move troops from the land of Nephi to any point on the battlefront and at least days to get commands to their men. Gathering up new troops from among their people would have taken weeks as well where we can call up hundreds of thousands of troops and have them equipped in days (besides our active-duty troops). With that perspective it says something about the amount of time that must have passed for Teancum in preparing for battle while Ammoron went back to the land of Nephi, was appointed king, sent messages to his troops in the field, gathered new troops, and attacked the western lands of the Nephites and the.
