Helaman 11
The wars among the people lasted for two years before Nephi called for a famine. This was not because he accepted the fighting. At first I’m sure he hoped it would end but I’m confident that his hope expired long before two years. I suspect that despite his sorrow at so much wickedness and destruction that it took those two years for him to imagine a famine in place of war and to feel that it would actually be advantageous to have the famine—he would be thinking especially of those who were still trying to be righteous among all the wickedness.

I notice that the people turned to Nephi because they recognized his righteousness and closeness to God rather than because they believed him to be the cause of the famine.
