The Jaredites carried with them everything they would need including not only land animals but birds, fish, and bees as well.
In building the barges to cross the ocean there are two problems which the brother of Jared brings to the Lord which are often discussed as an illustration of different ways that the Lord may respond to our pleas. One was the lack of light, which the Lord required him to solve within certain bounds and the other was the lack of air which the Lord required him to implement after providing the solution. I don’t think I have heard anyone speak about the third problem that the brother of Jared took to the Lord at the same time, namely the lack of steering. With that the Lord assured him that He would take care of steering the boats on their journey.
