So Shez built up a righteous kingdom but there was enough wickedness that his son rebelled and was killed by someone stealing from him. Not only that but his immediate successor was not righteous. Once again we see that a righteous king can influence and encourage but not force his people to be righteous.
The Jaredites, like the Nephites and Lamanites later, enforced a north/south division in the land. People in the north and game in the south, thus preparing an even jour bounteous land of promise for the people of Lehi to arrive when they landed south of the border established by the Jaredites.
