Isaiah 58
The true law of the fast requires not only giving up food but doing it gladly. It requires not only that it be done in gladness but that the resources spared be used to lift the burdens of others. It requires not only that others burdens be lifted through the fast but that the fast be undertaken to seek righteousness.
Like Isaiah 56, we desperately need more people to understand Isaiah 58 in order that they may more truly worship the lord and reap the blessings of living the gospel then would our fasting have greater effect in our lives and our sabbath keeping be more complete.
