Hosea 6 – 8
After all the ways that Hosea has been telling Israel that they are being cut off for rejecting the Lord he now tells them that the Lord will yet heal them. I also love the recognition of the higher law that the Lord was more interested in His people showing mercy to those in need than He ever was in their sacrifices.
Sometimes we may think in the modern day that Ephraim was more righteous than other tribes. If nobody else removes this notion, Hosea makes it clear that this was not the case.
When the Lord tired to teach the people to see beyond the rituals of the Mosaic law they shut their minds and choose to blindly trust the rituals themselves rather than the reason for which they were given.
