Alma 24 – 25
I can just imagine the effect if the Amalekites and Amulonites had taken the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi as prisoners instead of trying top kill them. They would have had willing workers and ample supply of all their wants and over time many of their children would have converted until they had a peaceful and happy kingdom. Actually there would have been many of the rising generations among the people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi who became unhappy so that over time their kingdom would be like other kingdoms. They would have had a period of peace and then had periods of strife.
In their anger, the Lamanites began destroying the most righteous of their brethren then when they saw that Rhett were losing an uncontested battle they left and destroyed the most wicked city of Nephites.
I have heard of pockets of people found in South America who have no contact with civilization. They are obviously descendants of the Native Americans. I wonder if they could be remnants of the seed of Amulon who hid from all other groups because of the sins of their fathers. While that hatred has been forgotten now (as far as I know) they are still paying the price of ignorance and separation.
