What caused Alma to inquire diligently about the resurrection and the period of time between death and resurrection?
It was because of an incorrect understanding of the plan of salvation that Corianton choose to pursue sin. There is no way to know if he adopted that incorrect understanding to justify his desire to ignore the laws of morality or if he already held that faulty understanding and thus failed to recognize the seriousness of his immoral impulses.
