Its funny to think that the wall Samuel stood upon was designed and built under the direction of Captain Moroni. There may have been improvements or alterations since the days of Moroni by the time Samuel got there but every Nephite city got its walls because of Moroni.

Samuel had told the people that while they claimed to support the prophets the reality was that they would claim a man was a false prophet if he testified of their wickedness. Is it any wonder then that they claimed Samuel had a devil?

Why is it that the closer the time comes for the fulfillment of prophecy the more the people abandon their belief?

It makes sense that it is those who do not choose to learn the word of God for themselves who would be the ones complaining about being dependent on others to teach them and who would most fear being led astray – because they do not have their own knowledge. They claim “they will keep us in ignorance” when the truth is “we refuse to do the work necessary to climb out of the pit of ignorance.”
