Luke 23
Herod had been wanting to see Christ perhaps because he vowed Him as being similar to John the Baptist whom he had reluctantly beheaded. He hoped to see a muscle but I’m not sure if that was for simple amusement or some more genuine form of curiosity.
Herod was willing to try shaming Jesus but neither he nor Pilate found him guilty. Normally those two men didn’t see eye to eye on anything.
The decision of the Sanhedrin was not unanimous. While the majority insisted on the death of Christ, possibly due to the influence of Caiaphas, Joseph of Arimathaea disagreed with that decision (publicly it appears) and he may not have been the only one on the counsel who opposed this blatant wickedness.
