Acts 6 – 7
I think of these seven men, of which the martyr Stephen was on, as being similar to the seven presidents of the Seventy – men who were neigh unto apostles in their testimony – even more than the Seventy in general (which group I don’t believe had yet been formed at this point).
When Joseph called his father’s household to Egypt they numbered 75 people. We presume to know 27 people among Jacob and his wives and children which suggests 48 grandchildren at that time (not counting Joseph’s family).
Stephen knew the truth of the gospel as surely as any of the apostles.
