1 Corinthians 9 – 10
The law of Moses required that the work animals be free to eat the fruits of the field while they were working. The people weren’t allowed to muzzle them as they labored. Paul is arguing that it is reasonable for the people to support those who teach them the gospel.
Good will not suffer us to be tempted above our ability to resist but at the same time if we choose to yield to a temptation we make it stronger and at some point it may become stronger than we can resist because we had chosen to entertain it and nourish it.
While there is nothing poisonous about eating food sacrificed to idols we must remember that we cannot expect to worship God effectively if we are also participating in the worship of false gods. That doesn’t mean that you must question each food someone offers you in case it might have been offered to idols, only that if you know it has been offered to idols you should then refrain.
