Revelation 1
Isaiah, Daniel, and Revelation are unique among biblical scripture because most of the books of scripture are people writing what happened to them and their counsel to people (Isaiah and Daniel do their share of that as well) but these books directly share the revelations of God to His prophets. Revelation is unique because that is all it does.
Nephi had this revelation and shared a piece of it but was told was to be shared publicly by an apostle named John who would walk with Christ during His mortal ministry. John had this revelation and very clearly states that the Lord told him to share it with the people. He isn’t sermonizing or counseling, he is simply sharing what was shown to him.
I expect that the seven churches to whom he addressed this were the seven remaining centers of faithful saints in that day.
