Ecclesiastes 2
Solomon sought to find meaning in any of the worldly pursuits (e.g. fun, wealth, prestige) and they had no intrinsic meaning. It sounds like he made no attempt to bridle himself in seeking these things. He did find that wisdom had some merit compared to the alternative except that he saw that even wisdom didn’t exempt him from the vicissitudes of mortality.
The more I read this the more it sounds like depression talking.
