Journaling Jumpstart—Day 3

Decide on one positive habit you’d like to implement in your life. Whether seemingly mundane (like flossing) or perhaps life-altering (exercising every day), think of something you’d like to add to your life that will be beneficial. Then, think about the steps you’ll take to get there, and how you’ll keep yourself accountable.

My first reaction was to decide to choose regular exercise for this. That’s certainly something I should add to my life but I think instead I will focus on adding more personal prayer to my life.

My relationship with Heavenly Father is comfortable and familiar but not very verbose.

This is extremely personal and I think the thing that has kept it from really sticking is that I’m not sure how to hold myself accountable. I don’t want prayer to become a hollow, rote practice for me. I want it to remain meaningful even as I get consistent about it. Perhaps the way to be accountable and keep it from becoming stale is to give it some guidelines. I’m inclined to set the goal to pray every morning as I begun scripture study and in that morning prayer to ask for one thing that day from Heavenly Father. I will also set a goal to pray each evening after my journal entry and use that prayer to offer thanks for the blessings of that day. Each Sunday as part of my journal I will make some kind if evaluation on how my prayers are doing.
