Mosiah 29
The thing that Mosiah predicted about having a king had already happened among the Jaredites as he well knew. What he didn’t know was that over time the people would start to treat the chief judge much like they would a king and that this same type of contention would aside between sins of a chief judge who had died just as they would between the sons of a dead or dying king.

We haven’t accepted a right of inheritance to elected positions (yet) but we to have come to treat our president much like a king – allowing him and expecting him to assume authority and responsibility beyond his constitutionally defined scope.
