Alma 41 – 42
I wonder whether the confusion regarding the doctrine was a cause our an effect of Corianton’s lack of understanding regarding the basic doctrine of Christ.
The doctrinal confusion of Corianton led him away from righteousness. it may be that the initial confusion was caused because of unrighteousness but we can’t know for sure which came first. We do know that unrighteousness was a wedge preventing him from receiving answers to his doctrinal confusion. This sounds very much like James’ story – whether or not some transgression first opened the door for his confusion, his confusion has led him into the unrighteous path of fighting against the Lord’s anointed (and he is clearly unhappy as a result).
