Alma 61 – 62
I wonder if Moroni receiving the reply from Pahoran “soon after {he} had sent his epistle” is meant to indicate that the reply came faster than could have been expected. That might have been the case if Pahoran’s new base of operations after fleeing Zerahemla was close to Moroni than Zerahemla was.
It must have been extremely distressing to Moroni to think that Pahoran was possibly a traitor to the cause of liberty. It must have pained him to write those accusations.
The Lamanites must have soon realized that there was a very different determination among the Nephites, a hardened resoluteness which had been lacking before. No longer is Moroni cunning in fighting against them. He isn’t bloodthirsty but he is powerful and decisive in a way that they can’t possibly withstand.
