Today was busy as the first day of school. All the kids report satisfaction with their teachers but shortly after I got home Laura said she felt that she should start medication. A few minutes later she told me that while talking to Andrea Rose, Andrea encouraged her to ask President Eyring for a blessing and that she had asked Connie Rose (no relation to Andrea but neighbor to President Eyring for the last few decades) to ask President Eyring if he could give her a blessing and that Connie had just called to let her know that President during had said he would have time at 8:00 tonight. We hurried to get our errands run and the kids fed and put to bed in time to go there. That included me giving Enoch a blessing (at his request) to get better from his sickness.
When we got to President Eyring’s house he invited us to sit and wait for a few minutes for Sister Eyring’s nurse to arrive. While we waited he talked a little bit about some things he had learned with her illness. Bishop Eyring arrived at the same time as the nurse and joined us. We talked for 15 minutes or so letting President Eyring understand the situation for Laura and the President Eyring, Bishop Eyring, and I gave Laura a blessing.
It was incredible to participate as an apostle gave her a blessing. He blessed her that her burden would first be ameliorated and eventually healed, that she would grow in love for me, her children, and especially her Savoir. He blessed her that she would have clarity in significant decisions and that kind and wise people would be brought to give her more assistance than she had yet had. He also promised her that all her worries about her children would be lifted and that the children would be part of her healing – that they would have a spirit of harmony and a desire to help as they grow and mature. He also blessed her that there would be a spirit of optimism in our home.
I wish I could remember the wording on this particular blessing but he essentially said that Laura would be able to fully participate with the family.
