Barnabas

Barnabas did what Jesus asked the rich young man to do, he sold all that he had and have it to the apostles and spent his life in gospel service. According to the Bible Dictionary he was regarded like an apostle even though he wasn’t numbered among the twelve.

Barnabas reminds me that priesthood manliness sometimes happens in the shadows of other figures. Barnabas was with Paul who was the one giving memorable sermons and working miracles. In this case, good priesthood service was overshadowed by more visible good priesthood service. Sometimes good priesthood service is overshadowed by more visible bad examples. The point I’d simply that sometimes it isn’t flashy and it requires patience by a good man to do the right things even when they go unrecognized.
