There is a tenderness about Jacob on the way he speaks to his people that sets him apart from other prophets. Others frequently had tender feelings for their people but it comes through from Jacob on a special way. Jacob managed to retain and develop that tenderness in the midst of a life where little softness was to be found. Despite all his tenderness he wouldn’t bend from righteousness.
