I have a hard time knowing where to finally place Zeniff as far as if he is a righteous example of manhood. He seems to have ended well, relying on the Lord as he led his people to defend themselves against the Lamanites. On the other hand, he and his people were only in that position because he was among those years before who, after following their righteous king (Mosiah I) out of the land of Nephi, decided not many years later to return to that land. As proven by the internal strife during the initial expedition, these people didn’t take this reverse in course out of righteous motivations.
Zeniff clearly became more righteous and wise later in life than he proved to be early in life.
