If like to think of Moroni add the greatest military commander of all time although Enoch would have been a strong contender for that title as well. The thing that made him so good at his job was that he loved his people with true charity. Not only that but he didn’t hate those he was fighting Raith. He sometimes hated what they were doing but he still viewed them as children of God and people of worth independent of the actions he was compelled to oppose.
His focus on advanced defensive tactics was obviously meant to save his own men but I’m sure he also hoped to save the lives of his enemies by discouraging them from attacking in the first place. Over and over Moroni gave chances to those fighting against him to save their own lives by ending the conflict. Truly he was a man whose heart gloried only in righteousness rather than victory or acclaim.
